Please review our policies before making an order
Chick and hatching egg orders are fulfilled on a first come, first serve basis. We will be hatching weekly and fulfilling orders in the order they were received through the website. Once your order is placed, you will receive a confirmation email and be added to our list to receive chicks in March, April, or May. Inventory for these three months will be added in February. Your hatch week will be determined by the order in which your order was received. We do not guarantee a specific hatch date, but will notify you via text or email when your order is approaching so you have at least a week to prepare for your new arrivals. If there is a week you will be unavailable to pick up your chicks, please specify in the comment section at checkout or contact us with your name and order number so we can make arrangements.
Any chicks not used for pre-orders will be available on our Facebook page for immediate pick up. These chicks will not require pre-payment.
Pick-ups must be scheduled in advance at our farm If you are unable to pick up your chicks then delivery is an option for an additional charge. Please be respectful and reach out in a timely manner if you are unable to make your pick-up time. Chicks will be boxed up prior to your arrival and may get cold if you are late. Please do not show up without discussing a designated day and time for pick-up. If for any reason you cannot pick up your chicks within the first week when ready, an addition fee of $2 per chick/per week will be added to your order to cover brooding costs.
**Because the well-being of our chicks is important to us, there is a 3-chick minimum on all chick purchases, as chickens are flock animals and do not do well alone. We recommend purchasing 4 or more at a time, especially if introducing young birds to an existing flock. Having a larger group makes the adjustment period easier for both groups and reduces the chances of older birds picking on the new ones.**
*Please do not place an order if you're not fully committed to waiting for your chicks to hatch.*
If something should arise and cancellation is your only option then a 5% fee will be deducted from your refund. Once eggs are collected and set for your order you will not be refunded. If you do not want to commit to the pre-order process please follow us on Facebook @oldccroadfarm and wait to claim any "Over-Hatched" chicks as they become available.
We do not under any circumstances send off chicks that are acting weak or sick in any way. Only active and healthy chicks are packed for homes. Chicks are monitored for the first 48 hours of life, after that it is assumed the owners responsibility. If you are a first time poultry owner - please do your research prior to pick up and ensure you have a safe & proper set up for them. Refunds will not be issued, nor will we take back any chick no matter their condition due to biosecurity.
When purchasing fertile eggs, please note that there is no guarantee of hatchability. Many factors can impact the viability of a fresh, fertile egg. It is essential to be aware that you assume all risks and responsibilities when buying hatching eggs. Additionally, there is a minimum purchase requirement of half a dozen eggs. Hatching eggs are non-refundable items.
